Google My Business has made it footprints visible and is predominantly being used by all business around the world, Since it Launch in 2014 Google My Business has came a long way and is not important part for all business who have physical presence.
I have been using GMB since early 2018 for my clients and it has made a huge difference to their business such as restaurants, showrooms, sports academy, entertainment business as GMB gives you insight in to data which is very useful.
I have watched videos & read lots of contents regarding how to improve Google Listing ranking etc most of it may be spammy tactics which don't work anymore and can get you in trouble as your account can be suspended by Google.
So Keep it simple and follow best practices as share by Google Technical staff with me over the years
- If you business is not on Google, then set it up first and claim ownership of your business.
- If you business is already on Google then claim ownership of your business and this is very important.
- Your steps to success:
- Complete your GMB profile
- Add photos appropriate to your business
- Start getting reviews from customers and showcase stars alongside your GMB Page.
- Check your Insights dashboard to get to know your customer
Complete your GMB Profile
Your verified business on Google My Business is likely to get twice the amount of visits from potential customers. Make sure you add a business name, verified timings, your physical location and also the category of business that you run. To do this go to the Info section on the top of your GMB page.
Add photos to your GMB Page
Your GMB Page is a great place to showcase the photos that capture your business - it’s a great way to increase clicks to your business and stand out from the crowd. I have attached a PDF document here, that contains a few useful tips and tricks on what kind of photos you should be uploading.
Get Reviews from Customers
By sourcing reviews of your business from your customers you can showcase great comments alongside a star rating alongside your business information. Use reviews to your advantage and if possible try to get reviews with few keywords related to your business in the customer reviews but don't try to spam reviews as it can get you in trouble.

Google My Business Ranking
This depends on lot of factors such as
- Primary Category: primary category help you rank higher in that category, always use primary category related to your business
- Keywords in Business Title: If your business keyword is part of your business name then it helps in ranking
- Proximity to Searcher: Search ranking will differ based on your distance from your business.
- Positive Google Reviews: positive keywords and 5 star always helps in better ranking.
